1 day Aerial Symposium – Dissecting Aerial (Pedagogy, anatomy and practise)

The Aerial Symposium, hosted by Gravity & Levity in association with The Point, was intended as a springboard for practitioners to come together to discuss aerial techniques, performance and pedagogy for the development of healthier aerial practice.

Speakers included Dr Tina Carter PhD, Kate Lawrence, Serenity Forchion Smith, Stephanie Yip (Perform Health) and Ziggy Slingsby. Some sessions were practical (for those who wished to participate) concluding with round table discussions. The aim was to generate ideas, provide practical tools and fuel ‘food for thought’ towards developing models for best practice. It is particularly aimed at experienced aerial practitioners, teachers and directors.

Here’s what a couple of the attendees had to say:

‘As a professional circus performer and instructor, I found the Symposium at EADF 2016 to be incredibly helpful, as it brought together leaders in circus arts and aerial dance from all over the UK and the world to discuss the issues facing our industry.’

‘The diversity of the different guest speakers kept me engaged throughout the day and built beautifully upon the practices I had experienced during the European Aerial Dance festival the previous week.’
