EADF 2011

European Aerial Dance Festival
13th- 17th August 2011 at the Corn Exchange, Brighton

Following on from the EADF 2010, event Gravity & Levity held the 2nd annual EADF again in the Corn Exchange in their home town of Brighton. Supported by Brighton Dome & South East Dance, the festival was described by one participant as ‘a really amazing & generous feast of aerial dance delicacies served up by a truly inspiring set of artists. I’m black, blue and really happy, thanks ….’

This year we taught:

Fabric, Counterweight harness flying & aerial dance trapeze, ‘Rigging know how’, Corde lisse, Vertical dance & counterbalance, Creative workshops, Injury prevention, Conditioning & stretching classes & on site massage!

Workshop participants feedback:

This was a fantastic course! One of the best I have ever attended, well run with expert teachers. I was in beginners level which had a diverse range of abilities. I have never done aerial before & I felt everyone was challenged & supported to the same extent regardless of ability. I feel inspired to carry on learning & I’ve learned a lot.

The progress made in 5 days was unexpected. there was a good systematic approach to recapping what was learnt. I expected it all to be amazing & it was.

The material was always challenging but within grasp & was presented in a way to open it up to creative exploration. The warm up in injury prevention was specifically brilliant in its focus & what was covered – very helpful!

The pace of everything was gentle & thorough so I could feel confident with technique & improvisation. I had a wonderful time thanks!

I loved the quality of the teaching & variety of the classes – aerial as dance as opposed to circus tricks. Made me feel part of a community that I was looking for but couldn’t find

From my past experience I have grown to expect total wonder at skills & huge levels of innovation & this delivered!

Supportive, exciting & creative environment to develop & learn new skills. I’ve learnt something new in every class & I’m full of new ideas & material to work on.

I found all of the tutors to be very giving of their knowledge, encouraging & patient & highly professional inspiring & supportive! An amazing group to be taught by.

Flying on counterweight harness was very exciting, have always wanted to try it. Creative exercises around generating ground based aerial & abstracting it in the air were really fun & a great way to create
